Oxford Spires Academy was one of those unfortunate projects that missed out as the Building Schools for the Future programme came to an end. Originally earmarked for over £25m of investment, funding cuts led to it being a £9m project built in 12 phases to ensure the school remained open throughout. The result was a very successful new build science, ICT and hall accommodation along with refurbished and improved technology, art, general teaching and circulation spaces vastly improving the quality of the school environment.
